Data Protection and Compliance Officer

Working across the whole group of Apadmi companies, the role of the Data Protection and Compliance Officer is to oversee and maintain all aspects of quality standards, supporting staff to ensure that all data is accurate and stored and handled in a secure, compliant manner.

You will make sure that the necessary frameworks are in place and maintained to ensure that data is safeguarded and will act as the point of contact for matters relating to data protection.

Additionally, you will promote a strong risk and compliance culture, and general awareness of risk management within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building, maintaining, improving, and auditing quality, security and data protection processes and creating controls that are adequate, efficient, sustainable and adopted
  • Appraise current practice in data storage and processing across business operations and provide risk assessments and recommendations
  • Appraise current business continuity tools and capability and make improvements
  • Identify regulatory, technological and other contextual changes in a timely manner, advising of impact and making recommendations
  • Own or project manage the delivery of risk reduction
  • Training staff on new processes and practices and provide information, and guidance of best practice to staff within the organisation
  • Be responsible for achieving ISO27001 and other relevant quality standard processes and industry achievements
  • Strive for continuous improvement across all parts of the business
  • Spearhead a ‘think improvement’ approach across all teams, and everything we do

Essential Skills

  • Up-to-date and well maintained knowledge of the following:
    • Data protection legislation
    • Principles and risks surrounding data processing and storage
    • Crisis management considerations and principles
  • Strong analytical skills, with an ability to capture and analyse organisation processes and workflows
  • Project management and change management experience
  • Training for behaviour change
  • At least 4 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Self-driven, results orientated and a positive outlook
  • Strong communication skills and great planning, workload management and prioritisation skills
  • Natural forward planner who critically assesses all output
  • Mature, credible and comfortable in dealing with executive management team/directors
  • Reliable, tolerant and determined
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with particular attention to detail
  • An empathic communicator, able to see things from the other persons point of view and maintain strict confidentiality
