How we moved the market
Hosted on AWS, the native Wattbike Hub app is available for iOS and Android and features integrations with Klaviyo CRM, Google Analytics and Shopify.
Apadmi and Wattbike initially collaborated to ensure the app had the strongest possible technical foundation. The partnership then evolved to focus on development of a new feature roadmap to ensure the app continued to set the standard for cycling technology innovation.
This involved developing several key new features
Apadmi built an entirely new homepage, providing a place to collate relevant information while promoting new features and personalised content. This helped create a shop window for the wealth of content in the app, provided a more interactive, tailored experience for users and gave Wattbike a new channel through which to offer tailored promotions. Impact: 90% of referrals for a ‘Summer Sessions’ promotion came from the new Wattbike Hub home screen.
A key priority was to deliver a streamlined onboarding process for the user, while gathering the right data to personalise the experience. Apadmi's UX and UI team worked with Wattbike to ensure new users could easily submit information such as height, weight, training preferences, performance goals and bike settings. This delivered a smoother experience and reduced queries to the Wattbike customer service team. Impact: 21,970 customers completed the new onboarding flow, with a 90% completion rate
Apadmi also helped consult on and build a new ‘preset gearing’ function, allowing users to set a specific ratio of wheel-to-gear rotations, as well as the exact number of teeth on the gear cog. This makes it easier to simulate how a bike would behave in a real-life setting, creating a more effective training tool for elite athletes and enthusiasts. Impact: Very positive user feedback, with one saying “it’s awesome, implemented brilliantly. It’s now a proper bike - somebody knows their stuff.
A premium subscription service
With Apadmi’s help, Wattbike has now launched a premium subscription service Hub+ which allows users to take their training to the next level. With more features for users to unlock, Wattbike is now able to generate direct revenue from the app. New features include a brand new Workout Builder feature - the first of its kind that will allow users to create from scratch, duplicate and edit existing custom workouts. Users are also able to share these custom workouts with friends, teammates and coaches, as well as export these workouts into training apps, or a cycling computer and train outdoors. There is also a wealth of new content available to subscribers, adding fresh challenges to users’ workouts.
Impact: From March 2023, users can enjoy an elevated experience, unlocking valuable new content and features.
