How media outlets find value with Apadmi
Better strategic alignment
We work closely with editorial, product, and commercial teams to determine the role of mobile within the wider digital strategy. This means aligning user expectations with business objectives, ensuring the product you are offering users not only strengthens audience engagement, but also drives revenue through subscriptions, advertising, or memberships. Our approach combines market and audience analysis with clear success metrics, translating editorial ambitions into technical and design requirements.
Monetising audience ecosystems
The decline in popularity of print media has massively impacted many long-standing outlets and organisations. Creating the right bespoke mobile experience can help media businesses to reverse these revenue trends and to better monetise audience ecosystems. We use our extensive expertise in embedding paywalls, subscription flows, and advertising frameworks into the product experience to maximise monetisation without disrupting usability. In practice, this means that our clients are able to grow digital revenues while simultaneously enhancing the user experience.
Improved understanding of audience
Publishers using first-party data see 25–30% higher ad yield and stronger subscription retention, therefore, understanding your audience is key to a successful mobile product in the media industry. Having an owned mobile experience that captures this data effectively allows you to improve personalisation and better serve your users whilst driving revenue growth.
Swift time to market
Thanks to Apadmi’s broad experience in developing various types of media apps, we have ready-to-go systems and platforms that can be customised to your needs and delivered with your branding. Our approach involves rapid, low-friction deployment that delivers big-impact outcomes without big-project complexity. For example, our plug-in PDF reader is used to optimise existing print products for mobile viewing. This can be implemented into existing products, implemented independently to a new bespoke product, or added to an off-the-shelf product.
Keep digital products performing
Whether your customers want to browse content, listen to the latest podcast, manage their subscriptions or make secure, in-app purchases, keeping your product performing at its peak is crucial. We understand downtime and bugs can be costly for media organisations both reputationally and financially. That is why Apadmi’s Performance team offers 24/7 support and regular maintenance to prevent outages and keep your product compliant with Apple and Google’s ever-changing guidelines.
Areas of media we specialise in
Broadcasters, radio & podcasts
Operating under reach-driven models, many broadcast and radio organisations face declining linear audiences and fragmented streaming systems. They require unified, interactive digital platforms to engage listeners or viewers, collect first-party data, and monetise through branded content and advertising. We have over a decade of experience working with leading broadcasters and radios such as QMusic, Joe Radio and the BBC, building unified, data-rich, interactive apps that capture audience insights, drive engagement, and enable revenue.
Large publishers
Many large publishers are seeking to reclaim lost reach, rebuild ad revenue, and establish direct audience relationships after years of reliance on third-party algorithms and platforms. Working with large publishers such as De Telegraaf and The Guardian, Apadmi has gained a deep understanding of the publishing and news industry and how to best serve their audience with mobile. We help these brands regain audience ownership and monetise direct engagement via compliant, high-performing apps.
Smaller & niche publishers
Often local or vertical-focussed, small and niche publishers tend to lack in-house mobile expertise and see digital transformation as a complex, unachievable task. These organisations need accessible expertise, affordable tools, and white-label options that deliver impact without heavy infrastructure. This is where Apadmi comes in. We support local publishers such as BDU, and niche publishers such as Flensborg Avis, with low-barrier access to a slick mobile platform that migrates in just 1–6 weeks.

Injecting pace and adding key app functionality for leading financial media organisation
FD Mediagroep is one of the Netherlands’ largest business publishers, home to the iconic newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad, BNR, and other financial media brands. Over time, their mobile app was built and maintained in-house, achieving a stable base of user adoption and positive reception, but it was hitting natural limits in capability, speed of delivery, and innovation. We worked together to swiftly add new features and functionality to the app. The result is a faster, more stable, and future-ready app experience that strengthens FD’s position as the leading financial news source in the Netherlands.
The outlet saw a 34% growth in online readership
In 2021, they saw a 50% increase in app users compared to the previous year
