Appealing to a new generation of traders with enhanced app performance

A partnership with one of the UK’s leading wealth management companies to enhance their existing app’s performance and optimise new components for mobile customers.

The Brief

Established in 1792, Charles Stanley is a wealth management company that’s never stood still. They’ve been innovating for over 200 years, and they turned to Apadmi when they were ready to enhance their mobile app offering to clients and drive innovation in the financial sector

We took on their two apps – Charles Stanley Direct and My Charles Stanley – with the aim of evolving their mobile offering. We wanted to move their technology solution forward to provide users with the facility to view and manage their trading portfolio.

Upgrading the app’s performance and features to bring new functionality to their customer base was essential if Charles Stanley were going to appeal to today’s investor. 

They also wanted to provide rich data on the kinds of services their customers value the most, when on-the-go, to inform them on future developments. 

What we did

The Charles Stanley Direct team first approached us with their existing iOS and Android apps, which both required updates to suit their growing mobile audience. 

We began by looking at the code, stabilising it and forming a feature development roadmap to give the project some direction.

By restructuring the code, we added new functionality features and redesigned the UI to appeal to a new market on both the iOS and Android platforms. We then added the share trading feature to the Charles Stanley Direct app, which allowed customers to buy/sell shares securely within the app, instead of having to go to the website. 

We’ve continued to provide Charles Stanley Direct with support and consultation on their digital roadmap, with long-term plans to deliver an even better experience for their clients that will allow them to manage their accounts with ease and convenience. In addition to the share trading feature, customers can now also pay money in via debit card – both of which could only previously be done via the website.  

Further plans on the extensive feature roadmap includes adding in-app messaging, partnering with Intercom to allow customers to communicate to Charles Stanley directly via the apps.
